Energy-Saving and Sustainable Separation of Bioalcohols by Adsorption on Bone Char

The separation of ethanol, propanol, and butanol from aqueous solutions was studied using adsorption on bone char. Adsorption kinetics thermodynamic parameters this method were at different conditions pH temperature. Results showed that the maximum capacities these bioalcohols obtained 6 20°C. An exothermic identified, which can be mainly associated to hydrophobic interactions between char surface bioalcohols. Binary studies also performed mixtures antagonistic observed for all where ethanol propanol significantly affected by butanol. A model based an artificial neural network proposed correlate both single binary isotherms with It concluded could interesting adsorbent sustainable recovery fermentation broths, are actually considered emerging liquid biofuels relevant industrial chemicals.
